The per unit cost is higher but the quality difference is noticeable. For client facing gifts where quality reflects on your brand the specialist route is usually the better choice.
European chocolate suppliers dominate the branded chocolate market. Belgium, Switzerland and Germany have the strongest reputations for chocolate quality. Many of the suppliers who offer branded products source their chocolate from these countries even if they are based in the UK. Ask your supplier where their chocolate comes from. A Belgian origin story adds perceived value to the gift regardless of where your company is based.
Distribution and Logistics for Branded Chocolate
Branded chocolate gifts need to be distributed after they are produced. The simplest option is single address delivery to your office where you can repack and distribute yourself. This works for small teams but becomes impractical for orders over 100 units. The more efficient option is direct to recipient shipping where the supplier sends each gift directly to the end recipient with your branding included on the outer packaging.
Temperature control is critical for chocolate. Branded chocolate products often sit in warehouses for longer because they are produced in batches ahead of distribution. Make sure your supplier uses temperature controlled storage. Chocolate that has been stored at temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius develops a white bloom on the surface. The chocolate is still safe to eat but it looks unappealing and the texture is compromised.
Lead times for branded products run 3 to 5 weeks from artwork approval to delivery. That includes packaging production, chocolate manufacturing and assembly. Plan your ordering timeline accordingly.
